My Yorkie has been trained for pee pads for 8 years. He started peeing around the house recently and it seems no matter what we do he still pees on the kitchen floor every morning. Any suggestions on how to get him to stop doing this. Thank You
Hi Karen! I have to say the first thing I thought when I read this is that the dog might be having a medical problem such as a bladder or urinary tract infection. I say this because I had a cat for 20 years – she always peed in the litter box – but then all of a sudden she starting peeing on the bath matt and other places in the house. I took her to the vet and it turned out she had a bladder crystal which caused pain when she peed. The vet said “she thinks the pain has something to do with the litter box – so she’s looking for someplace to pee where it doesn’t hurt!” So I think, since your dog usually goes on the pee pads, you might want to take him to the vet to see if he’s having a problem.
