How to get rid of pet dander using 10 easy steps:

1.  Brushing.  Brushing your pet regular helps to remove loose hair and dander before it lands on everything in your house!  Brushing your pet outside or in a specific area where you don’t frequent (like a laundry room, for example) can be helpful.

You can find a nice variety of dog brushes here and cat brushes here.  You should wash your pet’s brush regularly with soap and water.

2.  Bathing.  If you have a dog, bathe them regularly to remove excess and dog dander.  Always use a pet-safe, gentle shampoo. Bathing your dog regularly will help reduce dog dander buildup.  For help on this, read these two posts:

6.  Get a pet dander air purifier.  Using a HEPA air purifier can remove pet dander and other allergens from the air.

7.  Wash your pet’s bedding often. Using a small blanket on your pet’s bed is an easy way to keep pet fur and dander from accumulating.  You should wash the bed itself regularly, but covering the bed with a blanket that can be washed weekly is easiest.

8. Protecting your own bed!  You may choose to keep your pet out of the bedroom completely.  But if you’d really like your pet to sleep with you, cover your bed with a sheet that can be washed weekly (or even daily if necessary).

Keep a couple on hand so you can replace them easily when you throw one in the wash.  You could also change your pillow case daily just to get rid of any allergens or dander that was floating around the room.

You can get small blankets and pillow cases at your local dollar store or thrift shop super cheap!  Also look for these at garage sales.  So many women have garage sales to get rid of baby stuff.  That’s a great place to find really cute, soft blankets for your fur baby!
