7 Ways to Stop Dogs Fighting!
Dogs fighting is not only stressful and upsetting for your dog(s) but it’s upsetting for you as well! If your dogs are fighting, the most important thing to consider is safety. For the dogs, and for yourself.
I’ll give you the information to get Doggy Dan’s training program to stop your dogs from fighting to begin with, but in the meantime, here are some safety tips:
1. Remain Calm. If your dogs are fighting, try not to panic. Dogs can sense fear or panic, which may escalate the situation.
2. Keep Your Hands Away. Don’t try to grab the dogs to break up the fight, or you’ll risk getting bitten!
3. Try a Loud Noise. Something loud and startling, like an air horn, may interrupt their fighting. You can get these cheap on Amazon (This may also come in handy when the kids are fighting? LOL I’m just sayin…”)
4. Use Water. If your dogs are fighting in the yard, try spraying them with the hose! If you’re in the house, fill something quickly with water and throw it on them. Be careful not to throw water in a dog’s face, to prevent drowning (seriously).
5. Interrupt! You might try throwing something between them; anything, like a coat, a shoe, a blanket. This may distract them long enough to break it up.
6. Use an Umbrella. If you have small dogs, you might try to separate them by using an umbrella to scoop one of them away from the other. This can be quite effective, not only to separate them, but also to allow the less dominant dog a chance to run away.
7. Prevention is Key! Preventing your dogs from fighting by understanding why dogs fight to begin with is key to stopping it. Doggy Dan can show you how!
Dog Training to Prevent Dogs from Fighting
Professional Dog Trainer and Behavioral Specialist, Doggy Dan, has developed an easy-to-follow dog training program guaranteed to prevent dogs from fighting.
The program is called, The Dog Calming Code and it works in two ways:
1. It establishes you as pack leader for your dog. Many dogs will show aggression, toward other dogs or toward people, because they feel it’s their job to protect themselves, you, the kids, the house, the yard…everything! If your dog sees YOU as the pack leader, they will no longer believe it’s their job to protect anything. They’ll see it as YOUR job.
Doggy Dan says that stepping up as pack leader is one of the most kind, loving things you can do for your dog. Most dogs are followers, not leaders. Teaching your dog that you’re the pack leader provides relief that the dog will benefit from for a lifetime! They’ll be a much calmer, happier dog if they don’t have to see themselves as pack leader.
2. It teaches you how to communicate with your dog in a way the dog can understand. As you can imagine, this not only makes controlling your dog’s fighting behaviors much more manageable, but solves virtually every dog behavior issue! And it results in a super loving, trusting relationship for you and your dog.
